DANCEDRAW With Me, Portland! started out as a tribute to the city of Portland, OR and the wonderful community of dancers that I became a part of. Here, Paul and I got together for a couple of hours at Peninsula Park to explore movement and talk about the impact of dance.

I am always surprised by the form that my original idea takes. As my project in Buenos Aires begins to take shape, I am encountering new possibilities and new questions. In this video I noticed I was approaching the progression of images through "body phrasing" - seeing each set of body gestures as a phrase that has meaning within itself as well as relating to the piece as a whole.

A beginning of a collaborative exploration with writers/poets/other creative types. In this video, the spoken word is done by Matthew Miller, a beautiful writer and poet residing in Portland, OR. The intention is to form a dialogue, to investigate the translation of word into movement and movement into digital form.

This video is the result of a collaboration over a two day period with people from the community in Eugene, OR. I invited people into a space to create spontaneous physical dialogues that brought forth emotional truths amid shared movement. The intention was to abandon willfulness and the expectation of immediate narrative meaning, instead seeking open-ended exploration, transforming ourselves and each other through proximity and sensory response. I intend to explore these ideas further and develop a multi-media project this fall at a residency in Buenos Aires.
